STUDENT CATEGORIES
Continuing Students
- Continuing students are those admitted to MSU and registered in courses during Spring Semester 2009.
- Continuing students are automatically admitted to Summer Session and may simply register in the same manner and at the same time as they do for Fall Semester 2009. The Summer registration alternate PIN (also referred to as "adviser code" or "registration code") is the same number that continuing students have been assigned to use for Fall registration.
- Advising for Summer Session begins March 23 and registration begins March 30 on the Web (refer to Fall 2009 Registration Handbook for registration timetable).
Former Students
- Former students are those who have previously been admitted to MSU and paid fees, but who did not attend or withdrew from Spring Semester 2009.
- Former students must file an Intent to Register form with the Registrar's Office. A registration information letter will be sent to students by the Registrar's Office after this form has been received and processed. An alternate PIN (also referred to "adviser code" or "registration code") will be included in the letter and will enable former students to register via the Web.
- If the Intent form is filed by March 2, students may register beginning March 30 on the Web (refer to Fall 2009 Registration Handbook for registration timetable). If the Intent form is filed after March 2, students may register beginning April 20 on the Web or by completing the Course Request Form.
New Students
- New students are those who have not previously been admitted to MSU and who wish to enroll in the University as degree-seeking students.
- Before new students are allowed to register for courses, they must apply for admission and be accepted into the University.
- Registration procedure (begins April 20 after meeting with an advisor--contact Academic Advising Center or your major department):
- Undergraduates: Complete Course Request Form
Fully admitted undergraduate students may register for classes by completing the Course Request Form. Send the completed form along with your admission application to the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services, or send directly to the Registrar's Office, 101 Montana Hall.
Students who have applied for admission but have not yet been fully admitted may use the Course Request Form to request their courses (space permitting).
Graduates: May register on the Web via MyInfo (instructions will be included with your admission acceptance letter from the Division of Graduate Education).
- Check Your Registration Status
Check your registration status on the Web via MyInfo by following these links: Enter Secure Area; Login (follow instructions on that page); Student Services; Registration; Student Detail Schedule.
- Obtain Your Fee Summary
Obtain your fee summary on the Web via MyInfo by following these links: Enter Secure Area; Login (follow instructions on that page); Student Services; Student Records; Web Bill Summary.
- Pay Your Fees
Fee payment is due by the third day of class and may be done at the Student Accounts Office, 103 Montana Hall. For more information, visit the Summer Fees page.
Summer-Only and Other Non-Degree Students
- Summer-only students are those who have not previously been admitted to MSU and who wish to attend just the summer term. A typical summer-only student is one who seeks to earn MSU credits during Summer Session and then transfer those credits to their home campus elsewhere. Other summer-only students may include non-degree graduates or practicing teachers who wish to earn credits for purposes of recertification or salary advancement.
- Before summer-only students are allowed to register for courses, they must apply for admission and be accepted into the University.
- For registration procedures, refer to instructions outlined under "New Students" in previous section above.
