Undergraduate research is a high priority at Montana State University! Because of this priority, there are many funding opportunities for students who wish to collaborate with faculty on a research project or creative activity. The following information provides a list of resources for which students can apply. We encourage students to seek funding from a source which is most appropriate to their area of interest. The Undergraduate Scholars staff is available to assist students and answer individual questions.

Undergraduate Funding for Scholarly Work in all Disciplines
A quick glance at projects that have been recently funded by our office (the ethics of bioprospecting in Yellowstone National Park, examining ways to stimulate immune mechanisms, helping to develop interactive media stations at the Museum of the Rockies) highlights the wide range of projects that we are willing to fund. Our only stipulation is that the project must be considered to be scholarly work in the relevent discipline(s). So whether you want to study religious and cultural factors affecting religious architecture, the effects of coalbed natural gas development on herpetofauna in the Powder River Basin, the bacterial composition of unknown biofilm colonies, or some other creative idea the USP is happy to consider funding your work.
